Description: Flashcards+ was created by Harvard faculty and students.  The Flashcards+ app. enables users to create and study flashcards.  In addition, users have access to Quizlet.com’s database of over 8.5 million previously created flashcard decks.

Positive Features:

  • This flashcard application is a great tool for studying and memorizing vocabulary within any subject area and for practicing mental math.
  • It enables learners to take their flashcards with them anywhere and study whenever they have a few moments.

Potential Downsides:

I don’t really see a downside to this app.

Possible Educational Use:

  • I would use the site to have students practice vocabulary or mental math.
  • It would be an excellent warm-up each day as students entered the classroom.
  • Students who have mobile devices could also use this app. as a study tool.

You could use vocabulary and/or mental math assessments as a measure of effectiveness for this app.

This mobile app. enables students to practice vocabulary and mental math anywhere at anytime.

Innovation of this app:

The idea of flashcards is not particularly new. However, the ability to carry your flashcards with you on a mobile device is innovative and especially convenient. The use of cartoons to explore core content such as math and follow up with quizzes is innovative.

The app. enables students to memorize vocabulary and skills.  Flashcards+ also allows students to employ understanding skills through quizzing.
